This has been an incredible school year and we could not have done it without you.  Thank you for helping make Mountain View the wonderful school that it is! We appreciate all that you’ve done to help us teach your children this year.

JOIN OUR PTA

All parents and families are encouraged to join our school’s PTA.  We are still accepting new members, so we would love to have you join us.  If you are interested in serving as an officer or helping the PTA without a leadership role, please let your child’s teacher know or email Theresa Shaw (mvptapresident@gmail.com) to let her know that you are interested.  You can pay for your memberships online and order MV shirts on this website: https://mve.memberhub.store/

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

In May, we will start preparing for the fitness test that is required every year. We will also finish up end of the year projects in 3rd and 4th grades.  Fun Day will also be upon us! Can’t Wait!!!

ART

I cannot believe it is almost the end of the school year!

With this being the last newsletter, I want to say that I have so enjoyed working with your children this year! I have been amazed at the ideas they have developed as well as the things they have created. It has been SO much fun to watch! I hope you have a wonderful summer and continue to make lots and lots of art with your child!

GUIDANCE

I can’t believe the end of our school year is upon us.  I have enjoyed working with all of the students as well as families this year.  As I think about the extra time summer brings for our students to enjoy, I also think about the possibility of this extra time being filled by students using a device.  With that being said, I encourage families to set guidelines for using technology.  These guidelines include, but are not limited to, the following:

*Keep screens/devices out of your child’s bedroom.

*Set a time limit of 1-2 hours a day (less if you observe your child is negatively impacted by such screen time).

*Preview media your child is interested in before allowing them to play or view it or view it together.

*Create family time together engaging in device-free activities.

I hope everyone has a great summer.

It’s a Musical World!  This month, music classes will focus on multicultural music!  We will take an exciting musical journey of folk song and dance traditions from around the globe.  Students will be excited to learn about music from other countries and learn a few folk dance steps.  Make sure to ask your child to tell you about the music we are learning!

Composer of the Month

We will learn about modern composers during the month of May.  Students are encouraged to share information about a composer or song writer they enjoy listening to.  We will discuss how music is still composed today and focus on popular music that our students are familiar with.

Thank you for welcoming me to Mountain View as your librarian. It has been a great year! I have enjoyed meeting your students this year. Mountain View is a special place.

The last week for book checkout is May 2nd. All books are due back to school by May 11th. Thank you!
